Today i was in the bus heading to serangoon central to meet my friends and i met wilfred inside the bus-surprise, surprise. Anyway i chatted with him and this feeling of uneasiness just settle over me when i thought of commmunicating with god. Actually, its something which i always do; that is to "talk" with jesus whenever i'm by myself in the public or in buses or train. I just can't seem to commune at that level which wasn't any difficulty for me in the past. I really didn't reflect any further because i knew what was hindering in my daily communication with god. I simply didn't lead a fruitful prayer life which i should. Or at least have a quiet time with the Lord. Its these subtle things that jesus wants me to do which i totally ignored it until now. Funny how the evil one knows where to attack you where you're the most vulnerable. To tell you the truth, i felt something was amiss because i can't seem to hear god talking back to me. Its not just about me jesus wants me to continue to blabber but rather He wants me to listen to his message. That's what the QT(quiet time) is for. If you ask me to describe what's the feeling "talking" so freely to jesus, its simply undescribable until you try to "talk" with jesus when you are by yourself.
How to discern whether or not is jesus or the devil listening is that when you are "talking" to jesus, you feel a sense of calm eveloping you and you are much more receptive towards the Holy Spirit. He is like a friend who listens to our daily complains and quietly be by our side and encouraging us by granting us the spirit of strength to continue to do god's will. Jesus is always there beside us and its up to us whether we want to "talk" to him. Jesus is always very patient with us if we don't really wanna share 'bout our life but the greatest assurance is that jesus is always with us never abadoning us to desolation. Isn't that encouraging?
Now for the sly, crafty and the cunning devil, he'll try all sorts of way to tell you lies. For example, you are "talking" to jesus and somehow you start to feel uneasy and troubling thoughts are creeping into your mind. That's the devil at work trying to draw you away from god by filling your mind with lies. If you ever encounter such situations, pray, pray, pray especially during this lenten season. The devil is at full force trying all means and ways to desecrate our body which is the Temple of the Holy Spirit.
