6. Cry if you must: Please don't announce your "goodbye forever" speech with a grin. You're breaking someone else's heart, so get into the role and start playing the part. Cry if you must as it conveys the message across that it isn't easy for you as well to initiate the breakup. However stick to your original plans. Don't get so caught up in your crying that both of you end up making eternal pledges again. The key is to be clear of the fact that the relationship has come to an end but balance that reality with a dose of regret.
7.Offer a reason: Some discourage coming clean with the actual reasons but honesty is still the best policy. Whether its his/her idiot friends that is driving you up the wall or you're tired of being taken granted for, be frank! Surely you won't want the same mistakes to be repeated with someone else. Never tell your guy/gurl that you're splitting 'cos you wanna meet someone new. That's just plain cruel!
8. If you do lie, lie well: Okay maybe a fib or two during the breakup process is acceptable but please, not silly one like "This hurts me more than it hurts you." It never does! Try "Its not you, its me." Its far more credible as you are claiming responsibility for the failed relationship and you're not pointing fingers at anyone other than yourselve. But if you're partner's a casanova, by all means, don't feel obligated to own responsibility for his/her fault. Ending a relationship will undoubtedly hurt but it will cushion the blow you're about to dish. Who know's it may be the start of a beautiful friendship!
